The Backpacker is a unique sized affordable, portable and well built instrument. Beginners find it an easy instrument to learn and grow with since its course layout is the same as the middle section of full sized hammered dulcimers. Experienced players use the Backpacker as a take along instrument. The Backpacker is great to take along on outings such as hiking, canoeing and certainly traveling.  No playing stand needed as it comes with a peg that fits in a slot on the back to support the instrument on a table or other surface, even the ground! The tone is balanced and surprisingly full for such a compact instrument.
