Lap Harps

TK O'Brien's lap harps are handcrafted folk instruments which can be enjoyed by young students and senior citizens as well as everyone in between. Also known as a plucked psaltery or zither, this trapezoidal shaped musical instrument provides its player with immediate rewards by producing a heavenly sound. Music cards that slip under the strings are what make playing the lap harp so easy. Simply follow the upward and downward lines and pluck the strings where you see the notes below. All models have a range of 2 full octaves in the key of G. The notes, starting at the bottom, are G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, and G.

This wonderful little instrument is built to a standard of quality like our other stringed instruments. Hard maple pin blocks and high quality (made in US) zither pins keep this lap harp from falling out of tune which is a major complaint of imported versions. We have a variety of woods and models to suit different tastes and budgets.
